DEVELOPERS FUND DOWNTOWN WEBCAM

San Diego Now World's Most Visible City on Internet
________________________________________________________________________

SAN DIEGO - The installation of a fourth viewer controlled robotic WebCam atop San Diego's Clarion Hotel now makes San Diego the most visible city on the Internet, according to DestinationWebCam. Users that log on to the Centre City Development Corp's website (www.ccdc.com) or SignOnSanDiego.com can view real-time images of local tourist attractions, residential construction and the emerging Padres ballpark.

Funded by the Centre City Development Corp on behalf of the Downtown Residential Marketing Alliance (DRMA), a newly formed group of developers that have joined forces to market San Diego as a neighborhood, the group plans to use the WebCam as a promotion to advertise San Diego as an ideal place to live, work and play. Headed by downtown's non-profit business organization, the Downtown San Diego Partnership, participating members in DRMA are sharing marketing dollars, ideas and information to present downtown as the best choice for buyers looking for an exciting urban lifestyle.

"With 75 residential projects worth an estimated $3 billion currently underway in Downtown San Diego, the new WebCams have created a unique way for developers to reach out beyond the San Diego City limits," said Barbara Warden, president of the Downtown San Diego Partnership. "Interested homebuyers can use the WebCams to research new residential projects in the city, and view the construction of their newly acquired residence anytime from anywhere in the world."

DestinationWebCam began setting up the unique marketing tool in September of 2001 as a mechanism to drive tourism and soon after it became obvious to downtown developers that they could take advantage of the tool to promote their residential projects. Now with four cameras the trend has grasped the attention of many developers who pay to have their projects included in the WebCam's view and often provide links from their own websites. In addition developers use the new tool to send prospective buyers live e-mail postcards to show progress of construction.

Two cameras are located atop One America Plaza, one secured to the roof of Symphony Towers and the most recent WebCam has been installed on the Clarion Hotel overlooking the new Padre's ballpark. The service is free and accessible to the public over the Internet, reporting over 400,000 hits in the month of January from across the country and as far away as Japan, Australia, Germany and Brazil.
