BOSA DEVELOPMENT SELECTED FOR 2003 PEACEMAKER AWARD
________________________________________________________________________

The San Diego Mediation Center has chosen BOSA Development to receive a 2003 Peacemaker Award for its leadership role in the opening of the Cortez Hill Family Center, a year-round transitional housing facility for homeless families. Peacemaker Awards recognize outstanding contributions of collaborative problem-solving and violence prevention in the San Diego community.

Overcoming "NIMBYism" ("Not In My Back Yard) and stereotypes about homelessness, Cortez Hill residents and developers cooperated with government and non-profit agencies to turn a former Days Inn motel into an innovative nationwide model of affordable housing for families working their way back from homelessness.

BOSA will share the award with the City of San Diego Community and Economic Development Department, Peter Janopaul, Anthony Block, the Centre City Development Corp., and the YWCA of San Diego County, all of who were instrumental in bringing the Cortez Hill Family Center to fruition.

An important presence in the revitalized Cortez Hill neighborhood, BOSA has completed Discovery at Cortez Hill, a 22-story 198-unit residential tower at 850 Beech Street, one block from the historic El Cortez Hotel.

"We're honored to have been singled out for a Peacemaker Award," said president Ryan Bosa. "BOSA Development is firmly committed to being a good neighbor and giving back to the community and people who have supported us. We're very proud of the Cortez Hill Family Center and the positive impact it's had on the families living there. When people have decent, safe shelter, they can focus on improving other aspects of their lives. As a society we can't afford to turn our backs on the less fortunate among us."

The fifteenth annual Peacemaker Awards will be presented at a reception and dinner at the Hilton San Diego Resort on Mission Bay, March 28.

Currently BOSA is marketing the 39-story, 211-unit South Tower at The Grande at Santa Fe Place, which is selling at a rapid pace. Floor-to-ceiling expanses of glass showcase spectacular views of the North Embarcadero waterfront from the Coronado Bridge to the Star of India and northward to the city's nighttime lights.

One-bedroom units are priced from $489,000; two bedrooms from $545,000, and two bedrooms plus den from $852,000. One opportunity remains to combine units to make a 3,777-square-foot penthouse priced at $3.3 million. Three tri-level townhomes with two bedrooms, a den, a rooftop deck and patio are priced from $719,000. Sales for the twin North Tower are scheduled to begin mid summer.

Four units remain at the 30-story Park Place tower at Harbor Drive and Kettner Boulevard. All feature two bedrooms and a den and are priced from $1,275,000. Move-ins are expected to start in late-April, with completion in 60 to 70 days.
