The Fairmont Empress, an icon in the Victoria harbour since it opened in 1908, was purchased by Nat and Flora Bosa, effective June 27th, 2014. "We are thrilled at the opportunity to purchase this heritage building", said Nat Bosa and his wife Flora. "The hotel is part of the fabric of the community and we look forward to welcoming residents of Victoria, as well as showcasing it to past and future guests. This is the city's most elegant retreat, home to royalty and Hollywood stars, and we are honoured to be part of this ongoing legend".
As the Tourism Industry in Greater Victoria prepares of an exciting and prosperous 2015, the Fairmont Empress Hotel has begun their master planning to renovate and refresh this iconic landmark hotel. The hotel team, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and Bosa Development are working in conjunction with James KM Cheng Architects Inc. of Vancouver and the interior design firm of Hirsch Bedner of San Francisco to complete the project. The design and renovation will be consistent with that of a luxury hotel, while highlighting our turn-of-the-century architectural elements. The contemporary upgrade of the guest rooms will ensure that they are fresh and current, while maintaining the charm and elegance of the historic property. This will reinforce the Fairmont brand dimension of Unrivalled Presence.
Renovations are expected to begin in Q4 of this year.
